La Comptonie Voyageuse Lodge

Ours is an forest lodge, situated in the woods behind the village of Douglastown, between Gaspé and Percé, facing Forillon National Park of Canada

– OPEN YEAR ROUND –

About our forest lodge

Our Lodge is located on the upper floor of the workshop where we process the forest products we collect. In “picking” season, you will have the perfect opportunity to become familiar with our activities, because, during this time, our workshop buzzes like our hives!

This building, self-built with wood from our land, is located a short distance from our home, our barn and our vegetable garden, in the heart of a forest of 25 hectares, itself contained within the Gaspesian forest.

Extremely comfortable, the Lodge can accommodate up to 4 people ( a maximum of 6 with a sofa bed).

Its wood floors made of Larch and Birch, its walls of Balsam Fir, Cedar and Spruce, and its decor of warm colors, all work together to create a warm and authentic atmosphere.

We designed it as the house where we would want to spend our vacation, so we are confident that you will enjoy it!

The Lodge is 75m2 in size; equipped with a bedroom, kitchen, living room with wood stove, a bathroom and a semi-covered gallery, facing south.
Parking space.

Our Lodge offers all of the comforts for a stay of a week or more; alone, or with your family or friends.

Logical rules of good conduct

For the smooth running of your stay, and that of the people who will follow you, we thank you in advance for not smoking inside the lodge and for respecting the few points below.

Use of premises

Remove your shoes before entering the lodge.

Bed usage:
Never use duvets and pillows without their covers. Feel free to request an extra pillow if needed; it will be provided free of charge.
Please do not eat in the bedroom.

Use of toilet :
Ladies, it is IMPERATIVE to NEVER flush sanitary napkins and tampons down the toilet; the pipes and septic tank are absolutely not designed for this purpose. Thank you very much for using the bin.

Waste sorting and composting:
A recycling bin is located under the kitchen sink.
An information leaflet about recyclable materials is available in the cottage; please read it carefully as we don’t like having to sort your waste after your departure.

Composting: It’s easy to make compost. We provide a compost bin on the kitchen worktop. When it’s full, empty it into our outdoor compost heap, near the lodge parking area.

Water:
Water is life; it is precious. The water that comes out of the taps is drinkable; it comes from a well dug near the cottage and is a gift from the forest.
Please use it responsibly, as a well is not inexhaustible.

Please be eco-responsible when using electrical appliances and lighting.
There’s no need to overheat every room or use all the lights.
Similarly, when you go out visiting, please turn off the lights and lower the heating.

Thank you for using the wooden board when preparing your food.

Wood-burning stove:
If you’re not familiar with wood-burning stoves, be careful!
Ask us for help.

Please note that a fire extinguisher is available in the kitchen, near the bathroom door.

Laundry service:
We can wash and dry your laundry upon request.
$25 per laundry basket.

Life on the farm:
The farm is a wonderful place of discovery for children, but also a place full of dangers. For their safety, never let your young children wander near the animals unsupervised.
For reasons of coexistence with the herd and our dog, pets are not allowed.

During the dry season, the dangers of fire are ever-present.
It is strictly forbidden to light a fire anywhere on the property or in the surrounding area.

Regarding noise: The first and most important rule is common sense and respect for others. Rest and tranquility are paramount. Avoid excessive noise or any other disturbance, especially in the evening.

If you need anything, we’re nearby. Come see us or call us at 418-368-2296.
We don’t have a cell phone, so please don’t text.

Before departure:

The following points must be strictly observed in order to return the property to the condition in which you found it:

  • Refrigerator and freezer emptied and cleaned.
  • Electric hobs and oven cleaned.
  • Dishes cleaned and put away.
  • Coffee maker and barbecue emptied and cleaned.
  • Trash emptied and cleaned.
  • Compost bin emptied and cleaned.
  • Beds: sheets and duvet covers removed, folded and placed on the beds.
  • Bathroom: bin emptied, used towels grouped together.
  • Toilet: bin emptied, toilet bowl cleaned
  • General cleaning: floor vacuumed (a vacuum cleaner is available for your use)

In all cases, the immediate surroundings are cleaned up; do not leave cigarette butts, miscellaneous papers…

We understand that it’s not very pleasant to have to be told what seems obvious about the proper upkeep of a living space; unfortunately, experience tells us that it’s all too often necessary to reiterate these points.
We simply ask that you manage the lodge “like a responsible head of household,” an old-fashioned expression these days, but one we find charming.

Damages: Any damage for which you are responsible will be charged extra. But we won’t be upset if you break a glass!

If these requests make you uncomfortable, it is best not to book with us.

We wish you a very pleasant stay in our lodge and invite you, if you wish, to leave a message in our guestbook.
